Following a shooting in east Columbus early Monday morning, a 41-year-old woman was arrested. Officers from Columbus arrived at the scene along South Weyant Avenue around 1 a.m. and discovered Britney Boateng, 22, suffering from a gunshot wound.
At 1.12 a.m., Boateng, a Ghanaian singer, was pronounced dead. Officers stated that during their preliminary investigation, they discovered an argument between Boateng and Tyona Dodson, which led to the shooting.
Dodson, who is thought to be Boateng’s sister-in-law, was apprehended by police. She was arrested and charged with murder.
On Monday, 10tv.com reported that Todson was being held at the Franklin County Correction Center. Her first court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday morning.
Boateng’s death marks the 126th homicide in Columbus this year.
