2023 KIWA Scholarship Winner Announced

 

One graduating senior from the four-county region of Lyon, Sioux, Osceola, and O’Brien Counties receives a $1,500 scholarship each year from KIWA Radio to pursue a major in radio broadcasting, communication or journalism, musical instruction, and/or songwriting or music creation.

 

Winner of the KIWA Scholarship for 2023 attends MOC-Floyd Valley High School. This fall, Kaitlyn Bruinsma will study music education at the University of South Dakota. She has participated in numerous activities, including the youth group at her church, Girl’s State, the Le Mars Community Band, the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra, and Dutch dancing for the Tulip Festival.

 

At MOC-Floyd Valley, Kaitlyn has been involved in choir, marching band, concert and symphonic band, Jazz Band, played violin in the string orchestra, been involved in the school musicals and plays, individual and group speech, girl’s wrestling, track & field, volleyball, and much more.

 

Kaitlyn says the KIWA Scholarship will be a great help to her in her pursuit of a Music Education degree.

 

Kaitlyn is the daughter of Jason and Jessica Bruinsma of Orange City.
