| How Africa News

A massive outage knocked Google services, including YouTube, Gmail and Google Drive, for thousands of users across the globe on Monday.

Users around the world reported problems with Gmail, Google Drive, the Android Play Store, Maps, and more.

The company’s video platform did not load for users and had an error message: “Something went wrong…”.

However, Google’s search engine remained unaffected by the problems affecting its other services.

The outage began at approximately 1150 GMT and by 1230 GMT Google said that services had been restored for some users and said services should soon be restored for all users.

The cause of the outage is unclear.

More than 12,000 YouTube users were affected in various parts of the world, including the United States, Britain and India, according to outage monitoring website DownDetector.
