The public entity also monitors education and training as outlined in the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS).

W&RSETA Bursary Scheme:

The Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority established a Bursary Scheme in 2011 which is administered by the National Students Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and Career Wise to address some of the skills shortages identified in the Sector Skills Plan.

The Bursary Scheme is aimed at providing financial assistance to needy students to study wholesale and retail qualifications.

The bursary scheme is open to learners who want to study any of the retail related qualifications at a recognised university, universities of technology and TVET College (formerly known as FET College) in South Africa.

To apply visit any of the NSFAS offices.

W&RSETA MBA & PhD Bursaries:

They have made available financial support for MBA/Masters and PhD/Doctoral students. The programme supports South African citizens only studying on a full-time or part-time basis who wish to pursue MBA/Masters and PhD/Doctoral studies with a focus on wholesale and retail.

The full bursaries cover all the costs of registration, tuition, books, accommodation, maintenance/meals allowance, editing and printing costs as well as travel costs to attend local conferences and seminars for MBA students and travel costs to attend local and international conferences for PhD students.
