World Of Literature Mourns The Death Of Ivorian Writer Régina Yaou (Video)

The world of literature is in mourning. Successful writer Régina Yaou bowed out this Saturday, November 04, according to several sources concordant close to the deceased. Of the causes of death, no source has been able to reveal the slightest clue to the cause of Regina’s death ” We do not know, for the moment, what could have taken away life in Regina”, says Serge Grah, journalist-writer, joins the phone.


It is in 1955 in Dabou, in the South of Ivory Coast that this great writer was born, who is the author of several successful works. So she died in his 62 th  year. Born in a family where books and reading are the norm, it is in the prime of life that Regina begins to familiarize herself with the pen! She tries first to poetry, before embarking on “a great literary adventure.” Test shot, master shot! Her first novel entitled “La Citadine” was awarded by a literary competition of the NIS (New Ivorian editions) in 1977, while she was a student at the Technical High School in Abidjan.


It is therefore with great confidence that she will begin a busy literary career! She then connects literary productions. Pell-mêle, let us quote “The revolt of Affiba”, “Aihui Anka”, “The price of the revolt”, published in 1985, 1988 and 1996. Prolixe, the writer was, by training in particular to every kind. In 2013, after 36 years of career, the NIS, his publishing house honors him with a trophy. A year later, it is consecrated by the Ivorian government which awards him the prize of excellence in literature.
