Why I Never Watch His Fights – Anthony Joshua’s Mother Speaks

Anthony Joshua and his mum
According to Daily Star UK, the woman has recalled her astonishment when one of her son’s early coaches told her he would one day be champion.
In a heartwarming interview, she remembers thinking: “What is he talking about?”
Beaming with pride, she adds how much the 28-year-old “inspires” everyone in her family after his incredible success.
The Watford brawler is gearing up for a fight with tough Cameroon-born Frenchman Carlos Takam – his first since an epic battle with Wladimir Klitschko.
Earlier, he revealed his excitement at the thought of a mega-fight with Tyson Fury in 2018.
But tonight, Yeta appears in new documentary “The Fight of My Life”.
She reveals how she has only attended two of his matches because she finds it “too emotional” to watch his punishing bouts.
The cameras follow Yeta as she surprises an emotional Anthony with a party just days before the big fight with Klitschko.
She says: “We’ve actually come here to give him a big surprise because he’s been working hard training for the big event.
“We thought it’d be good to do a little something for him because he doesn’t ask us for anything.
“He’s just a blessing to the family – an inspiration to the younger ones and also to us as well.”
The boxer’s strong relationship with his mum is well-known.
He famously moved back into her North London council flat after the Wembley Stadium bout, despite earning a whopping £15million.
Yeta also reveals that she “doesn’t understand” boxing but appreciates how much her son has learned from the sport.
She said: “I saw the changes in him. the dedication the hard work and all that.
“No one wants to see their son in a fight. I’ve only been to two, it’s just too emotional and very nerve-wracking and as a mum you feel for your child.”
The film sees Joshua reiterate his aim to remain a “normal person” while also being a role model for boxing fans around the world.
