If you have ever wondered which are the luckiest numbers when it comes to lottery draws, here is some food for thought around the digits that can matter the most.
Of course, when those fortunate figures are drawn, it all comes to chance. There some modest indicators around, though, about the numbers that come up the most frequently.
A quick look at lotteries around the world can help you ascertain which digits you might want to consider opting for the next time you enter.
The figure 17, for example, is a popular choice in the Mega Millions draw. As of mid-April 2022, it had been pulled out 47 times – more than any other number in the popular United States lottery. Interestingly, 4, 8 and 48 had each been drawn 41 times up to aforementioned date. It will be just a matter of days or weeks before their jostle for position is separated by one or another.

Digits in the teens are also so-called ‘hot’ numbers in the SA Lotto. The numbers 13, 14, 17 and 19 have all been drawn upward of 50 times. In this scenario, the number 13 should be seen as anything other than unlucky, as its has been drawn the most among its fellow digits in the teens at a resounding 65 times.
The digit 7 is traditionally heralded as lucky. But traditionalists might want to rethink this when they learn the number 7 had only been drawn 45 times – one of the lowest frequencies among the lot – in the SA Lotto as of 12 April 2022.
