Watch: Zimbabweans Call for President Mugabe to Step Down at UN General Assembly in New York City

Zimbabweans in the diaspora held a 5-day peaceful vigil of song, dance, chants, speeches and poetry.

They were calling for President Mugabe to step down from his stronghold rule that has caused major poverty and suffering.

Zimbabweans of diverse backgrounds converged outside of the Zimbabwe Mission in Manhattan and outside the venue of the United Nations General Assembly. Their message was one. MUGABE MUST GO.


The organizer of these demonstrations in New York was activist, Savanna Madamombe, whose coordinated efforts brought together #ThisFlag movement founder, Pastor Evan Mawarire, Dr Noah Manyika of Build Zimbabwe, Dr Patson Dzamara brother of the Journalist turned activist and founder of Occupy Africa Unity Square abductee Itai Dzamara. Chimurenga music guru and anti-corruption activist Dr Thomas Mapfumo showed at the UN where he denounced the Zimbabwe government and it’s leader President Mugabe.
