A youth pastor and a congregant at a Tennessee church seemingly decided to settle their score in the house of God as they were seen engaging in a fistfight while their pastor was delivering a sermon. The physical altercation also happened while the church service was being live-streamed.
According to TMZ, the incident happened the day after Christmas at the Chattanooga-based Olivet Baptist Church. In the video, a man in a white T-shirt is seen approaching another man who is seated in the front row while Bishop Kevin Adams is delivering a sermon on the pulpit.
The man in the White T-shirt then swings a punch at the man who is seated before what appears to be a fistfight between the two ensues. The men later go off-screen. But during the physical altercation, the pastor is heard trying to break up the fight, saying, “Stop it, Marcus. Marcus, come on.” The church’s live stream is later cut.
In an interview with the news outlet in the aftermath of the incident, Bishop Adams said the man in the white T-shirt had just gotten out of rehab, while the other man he initially punched is a youth pastor.
The bishop said the man in the T-shirt may have probably suffered a relapse as he was unaware of where he was. The bishop also revealed the man later became tearful after they calmed him down, adding that he said he’ll be returning to rehab.
Despite his actions, Adams said the man has the full support of the church on his road to recovery.
