Oprah Winfrey chose an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” to reveal that she is throwing her support behind Hillary Clinton for president, and added she has no doubt that the presumptive Democratic nominee will beat her presumptive GOP challenger Donald Trump.
“I really believe that is going to happen,” Oprah said. “And this is the truth: America, it’s about time we make that decision.”
Winfrey, who famously endorsed then-Sen. Barack Obama in 2008 over Hillary Clinton, has come out for Clinton despite Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders choosing to stay in the primary race.
“It’s a seminal moment for women,” Winfrey told ET. “What this says is, there is no ceiling, that ceiling just went boom. It says anything is possible when you can be leader of the free world.”
Winfrey again expressed her support for Clinton during an interview on Thursday with “Good Morning America.”
“I’m with her,” she said, quoting Clinton’s campaign tag. “Regardless of your politics, you cannot be a woman in the world and not see that this is a monumental time for women breaking the ceiling.”
