The 41-second video was posted on Facebook by Arlete Arantes from Brazil on the 26th of May. It’s unclear when the video was recorded.
It has been viewed more than 78 million times, has more than 1.5 million shares and times and has collected over 325,000 (mostly incredulous) reactions.
The University of Rochester Medical Center said the “walking” is not so much a miracle but a natural newborn reflex referred to as the “stepping reflex.”
It makes the baby appear to take steps or dance when held upright with his or her feet touching a solid surface. It lasts until the baby is about two-months-old and helps babies develop and survive.
This however, hasn’t restricted people from joking about the phenomenon.
“Gotta stretch the legs after a 9 month journey,” someone wrote on Reddit.
“That baby’s name: Usain Bolt,” another person joked.
“That kid is going places,” someone else quipped.
