Italy’s 60 million citizens were placed under lockdown to halt the spread of a virus that has so far claimed over 1,000 lives in the country.
Cutting through the noise of coronavirus news was the sound of Italians, sticking their heads out their windows to sing together.
As the entire country, which has been hit the hardest in Europe by COVID-19 remains on lockdown, people have been looking for ways to pass the time.
From the city of Naples, to Turin and Benevento, here are some of the clips showing the unity Italians have and how music brings people together even during trying times

This is Caltanissetta: Sicilians- positive and resilient – singing “Sciuri Sciuri”. Supporting my hometown from a no-aware-yet London and loving if international friends could show Italy some moral support! pic.twitter.com/FgU1E2Mhez
