Verne Troyer, Mini-Me Actor in ‘Austin Powers’ Films, Dies at 49

Verne Troyer, the actor and performer of “Mini-Me” in the cult series of comedies spying espionage “Austin Powers” died Saturday, at the age of 49 years.

A statement posted on his official Facebook page described him as “an extremely attentive individual”.

Troyer fought against depression and alcoholism. Earlier this month, he was admitted to the Los Angeles Hospital, although his representatives did not reveal the real reasons.

“It is with great sadness and heartbroken that we inform that Verne has died today,” according to the statement posted on Facebook.

“Depression and suicide are very serious problems. You never know which battle leads someone in himself. Be kind to each other. And always know that it’s never too late to help someone, “says the post.

“Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy and laugh.Anyone in need, he would help wherever possible. ” 


Continuing: ” Verne was also a fighter when it came to his own battles. Over the years he has struggled and won, struggled and won, struggled and fought more, but unfortunately this time it was too much.

“You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside. Be good to each other. And always know that it’s never too late to ask someone for help . ”

He was recently baptized while surrounded by his family, the message added.

Troyer played Griphook in the first Harry Potter movie, and made a series of appearances on reality TV shows, including Celebrity Big Brother in 2009.

In 2014, he appears as a Mini-Me in the clip of “Number One Spot” rapper Ludacris.

The 81 cm tall dwarf actor was one of the smallest men in the world. He had gained worldwide notoriety by interpreting the acolyte, “cloned on a scale 1/8”, and just as bald as him, the evil Dr. Denfer, opposed to Austin Powers. This bouncy dwarf character had appeared in 1999 in  Austin Powers 2: The Spy who shot me , then returned to service in 2002 in  Austin Powers in Goldmember  .
