US Open: Serena Williams “I’m Really Playing Match by Match”

Following her victory (6-4, 6-3) against Karolina Pliskova in the quarter-finals, Serena Williams validated her ticket for the semifinals of the US Open.

Although she started badly and was led 4-2 in the first set, the American player was able to return to the game and dominate his opponent. The former world No. 1 qualified in two sets (6-4, 6-3).

“I just wanted to play better at that time. I told myself that I had to make fewer mistakes and see what happens. I will not go forward. Even if I’m in the semi-finals, or even in the final, the road is still long until the victory. We saw it at Wimbledon (she was beaten in the final by Kerber).I really take match by match. This is an important step for me. In Cincinnati, I felt like I was playing really well, even though I lost. I was almost there. I am now at a level and I can play and compete against these great Top 10 players , “ said Serena Williams.

The No. 17 seed will face Latvia’s Anastasija Sevastova, who defeated Sloane Stephens (6-2, 6-3).
