The hermit kingdom announced the completion of its first ever successful intercontinental ballistic missile launch earlier this month.
The ICBM was the first of its kind to be launched by North Korea, sending shockwaves through the international community after claiming to possess technology sufficient enough to strike mainland America.
It had initially been claimed that the breakthrough would only allow Kim Jong-un to strike mainland US as far as Alaska – but now one expert claims the danger is far more grave than expected.

Jeffrey Lewis, professor at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies and host of popular nuclear studies podcast Arms Control Wonk, described the spine-chilling consequences of the recent missile test on This American Life.“This one could hit the United States with a nuclear weapon,” he said.
