Upon Landing From New York, Ugandan Member Of Parliament ‘Bobi Wine’ Arrested. Find out why

Ugandan Afropop star-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu also known as Bobi Wine has been arrested, Uganda’s New Vision reports.

According to the police, the Kyadondo East MP uttered remarks before he left the country for which he should be held accountable.

Bobi Wine had just returned from New York where he took part in discussions at the UN General Assembly.

His supporters had gathered to receive him, but the Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Frank Mwesigwa ordered the Police to block his vehicle.

He was ordered to report to Entebbe Police Station and make a statement.

The new politician was recently quoted attacking fellow legislators in the 10th Parliament for what he called ‘sinking the country further’ after they accepted to remove the cap on presidential age limit.

Members of parliament belonging to governing NRM party are planning to remove a clause in the constitution that caps the upper presidential age limit at 75, a move that could allow President Museveni run for a sixth term.

Kyagulanyi said rather than partaking in changing the country’s Constitution, the legislators should be joining hands to find solutions to gigantic problems besetting the country, reports the New Vision.

The mayor of Kampala Erias Lukwago was arrested from his home following reports that he was planning to take part in a demonstration against the removal of the age limit from the constitution.
