A Zimbabwean university has banned kissing on its campus. A circular handed out by the university authorities said that “those caught in an intimate position would be disciplined.
The University of Zimbabwe issued the ban at the beginning of the academic year. It was part of a list of “misconducts that attract immediate eviction from halls of residence”.
The kissing ban which is fourth on the lists talks of ejection from the Harare campus for being “Caught in intimate position (kissing or having sex in public places)”.
Tsitsi Mazikana – the students’ gender representative at the university feels that the ban may have more to do with controlling students who are not pleased with the running of the institution.
