A man from Indiana was sentenced to more than 100 years in prison for repeatedly assaulting and aggravating a 10-year-old girl.
Fox News reports that Nicholas Deon Thrash, 34, was sentenced last Thursday to 160 years in prison with a minimum service of 132 years. Last month, during his trial, Thrash was found guilty of 10 counts of pedophilia.
In a testimony, his 10-year-old victim said he was assaulted by Thrash at least 15 times.
He was found guilty of raping the girl of his girlfriend, who was only 10 years old, and of having made him a child. He will not be eligible for parole until age 136. The police discovered Nicholas’ DNA on the girl’s dirty panties during the investigation.
The girl’s mother is accused of negligence and complicity. She would have discovered her daughter’s pregnancy at the age of 10 while trying on dresses for a school dance, and she would have asked him to say that it was a classmate who had rammed her up.
Prosecutors told Fox News that the girl had given birth to a boy in September 2017 at the age of 11.
The lead judge, Jeffrey Todd, gave such a long sentence because he stated that the accused, through his criminal behavior, had proven that he could not live in society.
“I was very pleased with the verdict,” said Grant County Attorney James Luttrull Jr.
Luttrull said it was unusual to have such a long sentence, even for violent crimes involving multiple charges.
“Because he has been charged with assaulting a child under the age of 12, he has to serve 85% of his sentence,” said Luttull.
Prosecutors could have asked for a higher sentence of up to 400 years, but Luttrull said it was pointless to try to reach a higher figure.
“I must salute the extraordinary courage of the little girl who has gone through a difficult and traumatic ordeal,” said Luttrull.
