A woman has been charged for threatening to hit Uganda President Yoweri Museveni with her genitals over the detention of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kaygulanyi Ssentuma alias Bobi Wine.
Suzan Namata, who has been in police custody for two months, is accused of recording a video which she shared via WhatsApp threatening to hit Museveni with her privates if he did not release Wine.
It is alleged that the 21-year-old, who is remanded at Luzira Prison, made the recording in September.
Confirming her arrest on Wednesday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations spokesman Vincent Ssekatte revealed that police are looking for her accomplice also seen in the footage.
“She used obscene words to abuse President Museveni and uploaded them on social media. By doing that, she committed the offences of offensive communication and cyber harassment. The charges have been sanctioned and she will appear in court today.”
According to Daily Monitor, the accused had also likened President Museveni’s appearance to her grandfather’s buttocks.
Appearing before Buganda Road Court yesterday, Namata, who is charged with two counts of ‘cyber harassment towards the person of the president and offensive communication’ denied the charges. Her bail application hearing is set for today.
The legislator had been arrested following the stoning of Museveni’s motorcade in Arua during a by-election campaigns.
