Twitter officially shuts down Vine, Launches Vine Camara

Twitter announced it was closing the six-second, looping video app in October but it’s still not clear why. Around the same time the company cut 9% of its workforce following slow growth of the social network but there’s good news. According to TechCrunch, Twitter is currently getting offers to buy video app and hopes to make a deal soon and decide who should run the short-form video app.

Tuesday was the last day to download videos before the app becomes an app called Vine camera. Vines can be exported until some point today from the vine.co website or for iOS or Android applications.  Twitter said the app will be updated today.

To begin the process from the app, you’ll need to look for the button, save Vines on your profile page, which will export the videos to your camera roll. If you choose to instead get a download link, you can save the data referencing your videos, likes and repost. Vine.co will stay online but there won’t be any new clips uploaded after Tuesday.
