Total Becomes Title Sponsor Of African Football

A breath of fresh air for African football. Total is now title sponsor of African football. The announcement was made this morning by the Confederation of African Football and the oil group. The two institutions agreed on an 8-year contract.


“The Group will support the 10 major CAF competitions, starting with the next edition of the African Nations Cup (CAN), whose fame goes beyond the borders of the continent. It will be called” African Cup of Nations total “and take place in Gabon from January 14 to February 5, 2017” reads the press release of CAF.

Total will take into account the 10 CAF competitions and will be present on more than 1500 matches for: the African Nations Cup (CAN), the African Nations Championship (CHAN), interclub competitions CAF ( the Champions League, the Confederation Cup and Super Cup), youth competitions (U-23, U-20, U-17), the African Cup of Nations Women, and the African Cup of Nations Futsal.


A new adventure for the CAF welcomes, through its president this contract: ” This partnership is a major milestone reached in our perpetual search for additional resources to enable even African football to accelerate its development, to modernize by improving its governance, its sports facilities and its performance globally. Total as multinational as a leader in its sector, with a strong attachment to the African continent, will contribute greatly to the will of the CAF to work continuously for the development of African youth “ suggested the president Issa Hayatou after the signing.
