George Clooney
It seems George is afraid of what he’ll say on Twitter after one too many drinks… or sleeping pills. In an interview with Variety, the 54-year-old actor said, ‘God forbid, you take a sleeping pill and wake up and the sentences don’t even make sense. What a horrible idea… I could easily say something stupid, and I also don’t think you need to be that available.’ What exactly are you afraid of saying, George?
Kristen Stewart
The 25-year-old actor has raged about Twitter in many an interview. The star is known for despising being in the public eye and in an interview with Flaunt, she more than confirmed her sheer hatred of social media. ‘Twitter f–ks me over every day of my life. Because people go, “I’m sitting next to Kristen Stewart right now” and then [the paparazzi] show up. I get so mad. It’s like you’re trampling on someone’s life without any regard. And it’s rampant. Everyone can do it now. Buy a camera and you’re paparazzi; get a Twitter account and you’re an informant. It’s so annoying.’ Note to everyone planning on taking a photo of Kristen Stewart: don’t.
Scarlett Johansson
The Avengers actor and new mother, 30, has said that she has no interest in sharing the details of her everyday life with fans. While we’re disappointed that she won’t ‘share’ with us, we have to admit that if she thinks Twitter is designed for people to share the details of everyday life, we’re glad she’s not filling up our feeds with the minutiae of her day.
Jennifer Lawrence
The most talked about star in Hollywood at the moment doesn’t have a Twitter account, nor does she have an Instagram account. We’re disappointed, although we can’t say we’re surprised. After having her privacy violated when her phone was hacked and private photos shared all over the internet, it’s only natural for the 24-year-old to be extremely wary of the internet in general. ‘I will never get Twitter. I’m not very good on the phone or technology. I cannot really keep up with emails so the idea of Twitter is so unthinkable to me. If you ever see a Facebook, Instagram or Twitter that says it’s me, it most certainly is not,’ she told BBC Radio 1 host Nick Grimshaw. ‘I had that one locked and loaded. Because the internet has scorned me so much.’
Julia Roberts
The 47-year-old actor won’t be tweeting any time soon and it’s because of the lack of ‘human connection’. During a press interview for August: Osage County, Julia said, ‘There’s a directness that I miss and the idea of internet or Twitter… I picture Twitter on a pager, which I know is also antiquated, I don’t know where you Twitter!’ She doesn’t quite seem to know what social media is about…
Bradley Cooper
The 40-year-old Serena actor is worried that his tweets will affect how we see him in films. He told Britain’s OK! magazine, ‘It’s a great way to promote ideas and projects. For me, maybe I’m old-fashioned, if I know so much about you and you’re playing a character in a movie then that’s a lot of work I’m gonna have to do to forget who you are so that I can believe the character and therefore enjoy the movie.’ Fair point, but we’d still like to see his ‘sleeping’ selfies on Instagram; a social network he doesn’t appear to have either!
Brangelina
We thought there was nothing Brangelina couldn’t do. From performing their own stunts and directing movies to adopting children from all over the world, these two are the very definition of a power couple. However, we’ve since discovered that Angelina, 39, can’t even turn on a computer and that both superstars seem pretty anti social media because of its technical challenges. They’re human after all!
Rachel McAdams
The 36-year-old romcom queen of The Notebook and The Time Traveler’s Wife has admitted she’s totally ignorant when it comes to Twitter – hence the lack of an account. She also admitted to not owning a television. She’s recently added an Instagram account to her technological knowledge – clearly pictures are easier than words.
Mila Kunis
You’d think this 31-year-old dark-haired beauty would be a social networker. Her quick wit and outgoing personality lend themselves to some good tweeting material, but Mila has also jumped on the anti-social-media bandwagon. The star has said that she doesn’t see the point of broadcasting her activities. It seems Mila and Scarlett have been chatting.
Keira Knightley
The 30-year-old The Imitation Game star said back in 2009, ‘I hate the internet. I find it dehumanising to constantly check emails or social sites, which have become so fashionable.’ It seems her thoughts haven’t changed.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
The child stars turned designers, 28, have never really been fans of social media. Although they have accounts for their two fashion labels, The Row and Elizabeth & James, they don’t have personal accounts. ‘That gives me so much anxiety,’ Ashley told Style.com in 2011. Mary-Kate seconded her twin, saying, ‘We’ve spent our whole lives trying to not let people have that accessibility, so it would go against everything we’ve done in our lives to not be in the public.’
