Togolese Star Emmanuel Adebayor Surprised to See a Street Named After Him: “This one is too much”

The municipality of Lomé has decided to pay tribute to Emmanuel Adebayor. To make this vision a reality, a street in the city center has been named after the Togolese football star. A great icon of African football, Adebayor has permanently engraved his name in the history of his country.

This decision is unanimously appreciated by the fans of the star. Emmanuel Adebayor who did not hesitate to entrust his great appreciation for this gesture which remains historical.

“SEA, growing up with nothing, I quickly realized that football would be my way out of poverty. It was my passion, I did it to have fun. But that brought me to places I could never have imagined. One of the things that kept me on the right path was knowing that I was doing it for my country, Togo. I did it for my people. When I won the title of African footballer of the year 2008, all I could think of was the little Sheyi Emmanuel Adébayor who grew up without any proper roof over his head. Then I thought about the songs that my compatriots sang for me when I helped Togo to qualify for their first World Cup, “Emmanuel Adebayor wrote about the city’s decision.

Emmanuel Adebayor is the only Togolese to win the African Golden Ball. His various stints in clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham, Real Madrid and Manchester City have made him a global icon. In Lomé, the man is adulated for his important participation in the qualification of Togo at the only football world cup. The Togolese are not yet ready to forget this craftsman of the international influence of the country.
