12-year-old BridgeAnne d’Avignon, of Salinas, California, made an interesting discovery that connected 42 of 43 U.S. presidents to one common, and rather unexpected, ancestor King John of England.
D’Avignon who is in the seventh standard started the project in hopes of tracing back her own bloodline in France, but somewhere along the way she got curious to know discover about the U S presidents. During her entire research, she was not the only one her 80-year-old grandfather, also helped her make the presidential link

It all started with a project where was to trace her family tree.

But, ended up in something bigger than thatWith the help of her grandfather, she discovered something really big.

And found out that 42 out 43 U.S presidents are closely related to one common ancestor.
There were previous efforts made but could only connect 22 presidents, whereas she could connect 42
because she also followed female blood line.

And traced both the male and female family lines to make the connection.
It was King John who led to the creation of British Parliament.
And he was the odd one out, President Marti van Buren.

He belongs to Dutch ancestry which excluded him from King John’s blood relations.
Strange but true, D’Avignon found something about herself too..and it is.

..and it is, she’s Barack Obama’s 18th cousin. I hope she gets to tell him one fine day
