“You have a moral responsibility when you’ve been given far more than you need, to do wise things with it and give intelligently.”

Having gone through hard times herself, her priority was more on reaching out to people who are going through the ordeals that she had gone through as well.

According to Forbes, Rowlings, in one year has given away a whooping $160 million to charity.

“New information about Rowlings’ estimated $160 million in charitable giving combined with Britain’s high tax rates bumped the Harry Potter scribe from our list this year.” – Forbes

She most particularly supports charities that cater to children’s welfare and single parent families. She helps to provide free childcare facilities to these families; as well as helping the parent and the children acquire jobs and education respectively.

She extends her generosity also to causes that battle illiteracy, poverty and multiple sclerosis.
