A large amount of cash has been found in the home of former Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, prosecutors said Saturday, while a senior party official reveals that several members of the former ruling party were arrested.
The security services have found Sudanese euros, dollars and pounds totaling more than 130 million dollars.
Suitcases loaded with over 351,000 dollars, 6 million euros, and five billion Sudanese pounds were found at Omar El-Bashir.
The former Sudanese president was placed under house arrest after months of protests against his regime that led to his dismissal on April 11. According to reports, he is currently being held in a Kobar prison.
The Attorney General of Sudan said Saturday that a new committee would be set up to oversee anti-corruption investigations.
Omar El-Bashir is also wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged genocide in the Darfur region.
