Stop Eating These Foods If You Have High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure? One of the most common conditions that one in three adults experience. You probably have someone in your family that suffers from high blood pressure. Nowadays, this condition has gained intense popularity and the number of people who suffer from it rapidly increases.

Unfortunately, people can have high blood pressure for years without any symptoms. Even without symptoms, uncontrolled high blood pressure can cause serious health problems such as stroke and heart attack.

What Does It Trigger Hypertension?

The low intake of fruits, vegetables and potassium and a high sodium intake can lead to the onset of this health condition. When having hypertension, you should have a diet low in fats and sodium as well as you should avoid the following foods:

1. Sugar

You may link excessive sugar intake with weight gain and obesity, but it significantly affects the blood pressure.



Sugar contributes to obesity, and high blood pressure is a more common condition in people who are overweight and obese. According to the American Heart Association, women should limit the sugar intake to 24g or 6 teaspoons on a daily basis. Men should consume no more than 36g or 9 teaspoons per day.

2. Pickles

Pickles have a low level of calories and fat but are loaded with vitamin K, an important vitamin which promotes blood clotting after an injury. Unfortunately, pickles are high in sodium. One single pickle contains more than 570 mg of sodium or 1/3 more of the daily recommended dose. Therefore, if you have hypertension, avoid the consummation of pickles.

3. Deli Meat

Processed deli meats are high in sodium. They are seasoned and preserved with high amounts of salt. A 2-ounce serving of these meats has 600mg of sodium.

If you add bread, cheese, pickles and condiments, you can quickly become trapped in a sodium bomb.

4. Ramen Noodles

These noodles are a quick to prepare, convenient and inexpensive choice for your meal. However, they not the perfect solution because of the lack of healthy nutrients and components.

A package of ramen noodles contains 6g of saturated fat, 14g of fat and 1,731g of sodium. This amount is 70% more than the daily recommended dose. Also, the flavor packet has most of the sodium, so avoid this particular type of noodles if you want to reduce the sodium intake.

5. Coffee

Coffee can be just another ingredient that you should stay away if you suffer from hypertension. This delicious morning pleasure can cause an instant spike in your blood pressure.

Along with coffee, any caffeinated drink such as caffeinated soda or tea can significantly increase your blood pressure.
