“I Am Here To Stay” – Zimbabwean President, Mugabe Tells Critics

Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe, has dismissed demands by some war veterans calling upon him to quit the presidency, saying he is in power by popular vote.

The long-serving leader accused those calling for his resignation to be working with Western opponents to plot his ouster.

The 92-year-old was addressing thousands of Zimbabweans who rallied to support him just a few days after veterans called him a dictator.

“As long as the party says continue, I continue…If I still have the energy, I still have the life, the blessings of God, I will continue,” Mugabe said in a 50-minute address.

Mugabe has been in power for 36 years now and his country goes back to the polls in 2018.
