South Africa to host 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards

Organizers of the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards have announced that this years edition will take place on the 22nd of October at the Ticket Pro Dome in Johannesburg and promises the biggest MAMA ceremony ever!

The nominations for the MTV Africa Music awards have not yet been made public and will be revealed next month Johannesburg.

The list of nominees will be based on musicians who have receiver airplay on MTV between March 2015 and August 2016.


The shortlist will be based on the artists and musicians who have received airplay on the channel between 21 March 2015 and 23 August 2016. This marks the third time that South Africa has hosted the award ceremony.

Winners from last years MTV Africa Music Awards included big industry names such as Yemi Alade from Nigeria for best female,  Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania) for best live act, Jeremy Loops from South Africa for best pop and alternative, other big names were the world famous P-Square and D-Banj.
