In light of the recent loss in earnings for the photo and video messaging app Snapchat, the founder and CEO promises there will be a grand overhaul to make the tech ‘easier to use.’ It will be the biggest redesign in Snapchat’s history is planned to reach your screens on December 4.
CEO Evan Spiegel has said that Snapchat will be dramatically redesigning the app to make it easier for users to understand, he also said that the redesign will be disruptive to business in the short run but they are willing to take the risk to gain what they believe to be ‘substantial long-term benefits to our business.’
As a public company Snap Inc released their third-quarter report on revenue and growth this week. Only 4.5 million new users signed up to the app this quarter, with CEO Evan Spiegel admitting that the amount of Daily Active Users on the app is growing at a lower rate than they would have liked. Snapchat was left with a collective loss of £30.3 million this quarter.
Clearly, the heads of Snapchat are doing something drastic to overcome their declining profit margins and to put a flame to underwhelming new user growth. Although this overhaul will disrupt Snapchat’s business in the short run, founder Evan Spiegel has said that they are willing to make the sacrifice. ‘We don’t yet know how the behavior of our community will change when they begin to use our updated application.’
