Singer John Legend Will Play The Role Of “Jesus Christ” In An Upcoming Musical Video

The role of Jesus Christ will now be played by a black man!

Between addressing social issues in his music videos and preparing for the birth of his second child, Legend is preparing for this divine role.

The artist has just been selected to play the role of Jesus for the  Jesus Christ Superstar show   aired on NBC on Easter Sunday (April 1, 2018).

The production of the live event that will last three hours will be produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and John Legend will join a talented cast that includes Alice Cooper as King Herod.

“It’s a powerful and meaningful musical and I’m honored to be part of this performance. We have already formed an incredible team, and by the end of the casting, I’m sure we’ll bring some of the best talent together to do justice to this work, “ Legend told Deadline.
