Simone Gbagbo Reacts to the Continued Detention of Her Husband Despite the Acquittal

Simone Gbagbo reacted to the continued detention of Laurent Gbagbo and Blé Goudé, although both were first tried by the ICC. However, they will remain in prison until 1 February, when a new hearing will take place. This was decided by the Court’s Appeals Chamber after a petition filed on Wednesday evening by the prosecutor.

The decision of the Appeals Chamber to keep Gbagbo and Blé Goudé in detention despite their innocence does not seem to worry Simone Gbagbo, the wife of the former Ivorian president. For the former First Lady of Côte d’Ivoire, the most important is the already proclaimed acquittal of Laurent Gbagbo and Blé Goudé, and “it’s essential,” she said.

“The truth of the innocence of President Laurent GBAGBO and Minister Charles BLÉ GOUDÉ has already been proclaimed. This is essential,  “wrote Simone Gbagbo this Friday evening on official Facebook account, in response to the decision to keep his two loved ones in detention. “For the rest, stay calm, calm and trust our lawyers,” she finished.
