Senate 2020: Wilmot Collins, the First Black Man to Become Mayor in Helena and Rated as ‘Next U.S Barack Obama’

In the United States, eyes are on Wilmot Collins, who wants to win the position of senator in his state. A Liberian immigrant, in 2017 he was the first black man to become Mayor in the municipality of Helena, the state capital of Montana in the United States.

Two years later, being a mayor, the man announced his candidacy on May 13 and hopes to receive the same support to be elected to the Senate in 2020.

The Liberian’s first ambition is to: favor the opening of borders and vote for policies that will lead to the “bankruptcy” of the United States, reports the Associated Press, quoted by Africanews.

” Perhaps the most valuable lesson I learned as a public servant is to always listen to your riding. It’s the difference between being a politician and being a civil servant, “said the Democratic candidate who trusts his constituency.

This desire for politics, Collins drew from his own experience. ” It’s the spirit of Montana that has led me to spend half of my life, half of my career, working with disadvantaged children and families, to give them the opportunity you’ve given me 25 years ago, “continued the candidate.

Fleeing the civil war at home in Liberia, Wilmot Collins will land in the United States in the early 90s. With his wife Maddie, they moved to the city of Helena, where she obtained a scholarship to study Nursing at Carroll College.

Could the latter have the same career as the 44th President of the United States Barack Obama also of African descent? Access to the Senate will no doubt be the beginning of a great adventure for Wilmot Collins.
