Samuel Mugisha Wins the Tour of Rwanda 2018

Apotheosis this Sunday of the 2018 edition of the Tour of Rwanda. And for the fifth consecutive year (since 2014), Rwanda wins the yellow jersey through the captain of his national team, Samuel Mugisha, 21, who has been strong from start to finish. For the last stage in Kigali, Algeria’s Azzedine Lagab claimed a second stage victory this year.

There was no surprise. Samuel Mugisha (Team Rwanda) won the Tour 2018 in 24h 26 min 53s with 21s ahead of his compatriot Jean Claude Uwizeye of the French team POC Côte de Lumière and 1min 04 on the Ethiopian Mulu Hailemichael.

For this last stage, the attraction was the passage twice on the famous Wall of Kigali, this paved slope of the Rwandan capital and which is dreaded by the cyclists. Without trouble. At the finish, Azzedine Lagab won the sprint in 2h 06min 20 ahead of Spaniard David Riba Lozano and Rwandan Didier Munyaneza. The GSP rider is well rounded  after winning the first stage last Sunday in Rwamagana.
