Russia’s President Vladimir Putin Plans to Attend BRICS Summit in South Africa

Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to attend the BRICS Summit scheduled to take place between July 26 and 27 in the South African city of Johannesburg.

Kremlin’s foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov made the announcement on Friday, as the date of the gathering nears.

BRICS is an association of five major emerging national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will also attend the forum in Johannesburg, and is expected to stay in SoutH Africa from July 25 to 27.

The BRICS association not only provides new solutions to global economic governance, but also reflects the understanding of emerging and developing economies on building a more equal-footed new order of global governance, one that is hoped could bring sustainable development worldwide.

In the era of a 4th industrial revolution, the 2018 summit will focus on inclusive growth and shared prosperity.
