Russian Arms in Africa: Here are the Number of Contracts Signed in Two Years

Russian arms exports have been steadily increasing in recent years, Russian Defense Minister Sergueï Shoygou recently reported on Rossiya Channel 1.

Explaining the rising interest from foreign countries in Russian arms, the minister spoke of the International Military Games, an annual event that attracts defense experts from around the world.

Africa is no exception, being one of Russia’s major arms customers. 

In the last two years demand is growing. Russia has recently signed some 20 contracts on arms delivery with African countries, as announced by Rosoboronexport’s press service, referring to its CEO Alexander Mikheiev.

According to him, the African arms and military equipment market must continue to develop in the coming years. For its part, Rosoboronexport offers its partners in Africa a comprehensive cooperation that includes several areas.

” We offer not only the supply of our products, but also logistical support for the duration of their service, the training of specialists and the establishment of structures for maintenance and repair, ” said Mikheiev. .

As part of the Africa Aerospace & Defense international exhibition, Rosoboronexport is also organizing the Russian exhibition where more than 280 samples of Russian military weapons and equipment will be presented.

Russia expects significant interest from foreign delegations in the production of its companies, including the BTR-80A and BTR-82A armored vehicles, the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft system, and the Verba portable missile launchers. and Igla-S, said the CEO of Rosoboronexport.
