Mr Cochegrus added: “We’re happy to see she continues supporting vulnerable people now as a member of the Royal Family.

“We’d love for her to visit us again one day.”

He recalled how on one Thanksgiving, Meghan brought in all the food and fixings to serve over 100 people.

Meghan and Harry posted on Instagram about the 12 charities they hoped people would support this festive season.

St. Felix Centre was the only Canadian charity to make the list.

Mr Cochegrus said thousands of people responded to the couple’s call to visit the centre.

Last year, Good Morning America detailed how the Duchess had heard about the centre from a friend before she began volunteering.

St. Felix Centre is encouraging people to get involved with their ‘Lighting the Way’ Christmas initiative.

Last year more than $30,000 (£22,821.75) was raised for those in need.

Each time the charity receives more funds, a light is lit on a visual Christmas tree.

This keeps going until the lights reach the star at the top.

The centre is a multi-service non-profit centre in downtown Toronto.

It offers programs and services for some of the most marginalised members of the community.

St. Felix Centre also helps homeless people with its transitional home where they can stay and feel safe.

Other services include community meals, which Meghan volunteered with, and a clothes bank.
