Royal Family Celebrates Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip’s 72nd Anniversary with Cute Photos

It’s a royal anniversary!

Wednesday marks the 72nd anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and their royal grandkids are showing England’s top couple all the love.

The official royal family Instagram account, which documents the life of the queen and the family, shared a black and white throwback photo from the couple’s wedding day where they can be seen waving from a balcony. The account also posted a current photo of Queen Elizabeth and The Duke of Edinburgh walking side by side, with the queen in pink, holding a bouquet of flowers.

“Happy 72nd Wedding Anniversary to The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, who were married on this day in Westminster Abbey,” the caption read.

Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry gave their own special shout out to the couple on their anniversary by also sharing an old black and white photo of the queen and Prince Philip riding in a car.

“Happy anniversary to Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh! On this day, seventy-two years ago, they were married at Westminster Abbey,” the couple wrote in the caption. “Many congratulations!”


The official Instagram account for Prince William and Duchess Kate of Cambridge also shared an old photo of the couple, as well as a more recent photo of the pair in almost the same exact pose.

In the first black and white picture, the two look lovingly at each other as the queen holds onto her husband’s arm. In the second photo, the couple is still standing side by side, laughing while Prince Philip looks at the Queen.

“Wishing Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh a very happy 72nd Wedding Anniversary!” the caption said.

Netflix even got in on the action, taking to Twitter to jokingly warn about spoilers for its historical drama series “The Crown.”
