Keith Schiller told officials probing Russia’s meddling in the 2016 US election that he treated the offer as a joke.
The proposal was made by a Russian participant in the competition, Schiller told the House Intelligence Committee on Thursday.
Schiller reportedly made the comments in the context of disputing allegations made against his former boss in the infamous ‘dirty dossier’, a source told the news site.
The salacious report, compiled by British ex-spy Christopher Steele, describes Trump having an encounter with prostitutes at the hotel during the pageant.
Schiller told the committee he discussed the Russian’s offer with Trump and they laughed about it before the billionaire went to bed alone.
Schiller testified that he stood outside Trump’s hotel room for a time before going to bed.
A source told NBC that Schiller could not say for sure what happened during the remainder of the night, but was confident nothing happened.
The former bodyguard added that he and Trump were aware of the risk that hotel rooms in Moscow could be set up to capture hidden video, sources told the news site.
Schiller, who worked for Trump until September of this year, appeared before the House Intelligence Committee as it was claimed Hillary Clinton is reportedly in secret negotiations with Steele to buy a second ‘dirty dossier’.
