“We say we do not want to talk to the American side during our stay in South Korea,” a spokesman for the North Korean diplomacy said on condition of anonymity.
“We have never negotiated with the United States and we will never do it,” the spokesman said.
Earlier, the South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that US Vice President Mike Pence was supposed to meet the North Korean delegation at the Pyeongchang Olympics.
Chairman of the Presidential Assembly of the Supreme People’s Assembly, Kim Yong-nam, and sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will lead the North Korean delegation to the Olympics. This is the first high-level delegation to visit North Korea since the end of the war of the two Koreas in 1953.
Yonhap reported that the North Korean delegation’s participation in the Pyeongchang Olympics is not part of UN sanctions.
