President Mnangagwa Gives Money Launderers Three Months Amnesty Or Face Full Wrath Of The Law

Today the new president of Zimbawe Emmerson Mnangagwa sent out a statement granting a three month amnesty to all people who externalized huge sums of money and assets.

In the statement issued today, Mnangagwa assured the nation that those who return the wealth into the country within the three months would not be prosecuted however those that do not will be investigated. The period of the amnesty would be between 1st December to the end of February 2018.

The statement also says that those who do not comply upon the expiry of the 3 months, government would proceed to arrest and prosecute them.

The statement concludes with a chilling warning

THOSE AFFETECD ARE THUS ENCOURAGED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE THREE MONTH MORATORIUM TO RETURN THE ILLEGALLY EXTERNALIZED FUNDS AND ASSETS TO AVOID THE PAIN AND IGNOMINY OF BEING VISITED BY THE LONG ARM OF THE LAW.

What is not clear is how far back does the government consider. There were a number of people who externalized their wealth during the hyperinflation period. Then there were many within government who illegally looted the state coffers.
