Former football great O.J. Simpson is counting down the days when he will become a free man. After serving 9 years in prison, Simpson is scheduled to be released on parole after Sunday, October 1st.
According to a story published by the Daily Mail, “The process culminating in freedom for the former football player, actor and TV pitchman is in motion, but must be approved and documents must be signed, state Department of Corrections spokeswoman Brooke Keast said.”
Simpson is being held at Lovelock Correctional Center in Northern Nevada. He’s expected to be transferred to High Desert State Prison where he is expected to be released.
As you may recall, Simpson was given a 33-year prison sentence, however, he was able to get parole after good behavior. Simpson has been serving time for an armed robbery and kidnapping conviction.
Tom Scotto, a close friend of Simpson has offered to have Simpson stay with him in Florida. This isn’t as simple as it sounds because it would need an agreement between the parole departments in Florida and Nevada.
FYI – “Florida has not received any transfer paperwork from Nevada, said Ashley Cook, a spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Corrections.”
Because this is a high profile parole, everything is being done to keep things as normal as possible.
FYI – Simpson will be on parole until Sept 29, 2022.
