Nigeria’s Ex-President, Olusegun Obasanjo Finally Reveals Why Boko Haram Was Created

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo gave the reasons why the Islamist sect Boko Haram was created in northeastern Nigeria. It was on the occasion of a conference marking the 14th anniversary of the Dorcas Oke Hope Alive initiative (DOHAL), celebrated under the theme: “Corruption and the challenges of the African child”.

In fact, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo says that by doing research for his degree in theology, he finally understood why Boko Haram had been trained.

The former military head of state pointed out that extreme poverty resulting from a corrupt system led to the creation of Boko Haram.

“The members of the extremist group revealed that they were disappointed when they saw how educated and educated leaders of Western education were corrupted, which led to rebellion.”

Continuing, he argues, “according to the latter, if the rulers grow richer in a corrupt way, depriving others of essential commodities, then this education is” haram “, which means” illegal “in Arabic, said Obassanjo.

“When Mohammed Yusuf, the first leader of Boko Haram and his first fighters started the rebellion, they all rallied and tore up their diplomas, saying that a degree that could not get them to work was useless. They had also concluded that Western education made individuals corrupt.

“We may not agree with their position, but the disappointment and disillusionment of citizens over mismanagement on the part of the leaders is real,” concluded the former leader.
