Nigeria Sports Minister Dalung Hails U-23 Eagles Over Japan Win

The Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung heartily congratulates the National U-23 football team for their outstanding 5-4 victory over Japan in their opening Group B game.

According to Barrister Dalung, “The Dream Team VI not only showed resilience in the face of adversity but demonstrated patriotism, team work and the CAN DO SPIRIT that Nigerians are known for globally”.

He urged them to put aside all that happened in Atlanta and focus on the challenges ahead. He also pledged Federal government’s backing for the team.

“The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari is proud of your achievement this morning and will continue to support you as you seek to relive the 1996 feat”.

Nigeria now lead Group B with three points after Sweden and Colombia played out a 2-2 draw earlier in the day.

They will hope to get some needed rest before facing Sweden in their next game in Manaus on Sunday.
