Michelle Obama Reveals One of the Hardest Moments of Her Husband Barack’s Tenure

Michelle Obama, ex-first lady of the United States, has returned to one of the hardest moments of her husband Barack’s tenure. In her best-selling memoir ” Memories “, Michelle Obama explained that it was the shooting that broke out at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2012.

The former first lady remembers that the author of the shooting, Adam Lanza, had managed to enter the premises of the establishment with a firearm. He then killed 27 people, including 20 children aged six to seven and his own mother, moments before.

An event that had shaken the whole of America, thereby becoming the third largest school-related massacre in the history of this country.

Given the gravity of the shooting, the president was required to go to the bedside of the victims and the families affected. On such an occasion, Barack Obama was often accompanied by his wife, Michelle. But in the aftermath of this mass killing, the First Lady of the United States was noted for her absence. In her memoirs, Michelle tried to explain this absence.

She explained that she was so shocked by the drama to the point where she did not have the strength or the courage to accompany her husband. On the contrary, she admits that she stayed at home and did not stop for a moment to take her children in her arms. A gesture described as a mixture of love and fear that animated him following the drama that had taken place.

Michelle Obama added in the following lines that at the time she had absolutely no idea how she could comfort someone who has just lost their six year old child. She felt that her comfort was far too small and insignificant in the face of such a tragedy.
