MELANIA TRUMP, the wife of Donald Trump, could be dressed by a favourite of Michelle Obama’s after she was shunned by fashion insiders such as Tom Ford. Now Thom Browne has said he will dress the First Lady.
However, one designer who also dressed former First Lady Michelle Obama has come forward to say he would dress the 47-year-old former model from Slovenia.
Thom Browne, a designer from New York who has worked with Ralph Lauren, said: “Look, I respect her as the first lady, and it’s something that I would respect.”
He made the statement at a Q&A in New York on Wednesday.
At the event, he said of the former First Lady: “The approach for her was making sure she was in something as strong and as interesting and as important as she is.”
Shortly after Donald Trump’s inauguration, a number of high profile fashion designers weighed in claiming they would refuse to dress the First Lady.
Tom Ford, loved by celebrities such as Beyonce and Naomi Campbell said: “Well, she’s not necessarily my image.”

However, a Jean Paul Gaultier has said he will “definitely” dress Mrs Trump.
Donald hit back at the designer who refused to dress his wife. He said: “Tom Ford came out and said he was not dressing Melania.
“He was never asked. I never liked him or his designs. He’s never had something to dress like that [pointing to his wife, who was in the room at the time].”
