Meghan Markle’s Mom Looks Young Enough To Be Her Sister In Photos With Harry

After months of speculation, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have finally announced their engagement in a statement on Monday morning.

Naturally, now that she’s going to be marrying into the Royal family, people want to know more about her relatives.

The couple have kept a low profile in their 17 months of dating, but in October they stepped out for their first properly public display of affection at the Invictus Games: an international, multi-sport event for Paralympians which Harry founded in 2014.

At the closing ceremony Harry planted a kiss on his girlfriend’s cheek and made us all gush a little bit – they just look so happy! – but you might have initially missed someone else in the photo: Meghan’s mum.

Why did we miss her initially? Because she looks so young, you would think she couldn’t possibly be old enough to be her mother.

Meghan’s mum, Doria Ragland, is actually 61 years old – but you wouldn’t think it thanks to her youthful complexion.

Doria is a social worker and yoga instructor, and the former might give us a clue as to how she’s stayed looking more like her daughter’s sister.

She gave birth to daughter Meghan in August 1981 and divorced her father Thomas when she was six, according to the Daily Mail.

Meghan has opened up about her ‘free spirit’ mum in the past, crediting her with being one of the actress’ biggest influencers in life.

She told Glamour magazine: “My mum’s a yoga instructor, but she does social work, as well, and she works specifically with the geriatric community.

“For me to watch this level of life-long sensitivity to nurturing and caregiving, but at the same time my mum has always been a free spirit.

“She’s got dread locks and a nose ring. She just ran the LA Marathon.

“We can just have so much fun together, and yet, I’ll still find so much solace in her support. That duality coexists the same way it would in a best friend.”
