Meghan Markle and Harry are struggling under the lockdown measures, according to a leading royal insider. The couple rushed their move to the US from Canada ahead of the border closures between the two countries due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, according to royal insider Katie Nicholl, Meghan is finding it “incredibly hard” being cut off from her mother and hometown friends during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Nicholl revealed: “They are practicing social distancing.
“They are keeping in touch through social media, not actually seeing each other in person.
“This must be incredibly hard for Meghan, being so close to her mother, just a matter of miles away.
“It is equally difficult for Doria, because she won’t have been able to seen Archie yet.
“They are taking social distancing and government guidelines very seriously indeed.”
Meghan and Harry had to shelve their big birthday plans for 11-month-old son Archie
While Meghan and Harry may have struggled to adapt to their new post-royal life, Archie appears to have settled down quickly according to Nicholl.
She explained: “I spoke to someone who had been sent a video of Archie a few weeks back. He is super cute, a really happy little boy. He is bubbling and desperate to talk.
“He has already mastered cruising and is well on his way to walking. He may be walking already but I was told he was very happy and confident in LA.”
Nicholl admitted that Meghan and Harry had to shelve their big birthday plans for 11-month-old son Archie due to the lockdown measures.
Meghan and Harry may have struggled to adapting to their new post-royal life
She said: “We believe they are in Malibu, that they are renting an ocean-facing villa. Wherever they are they are keeping a low profile, they are in a gated compound which is not accessible.
“They had to scrap their original plans for Archie and there is a big question mark over how they will celebrate it.
“There’s a big chance we will still be in lockdown and they won’t be able to throw the first birthday party they had already planned. It’s a case of having to wait and see.”
On Friday, there were reports that Meghan had been “heartbroken” that the coronavirus pandemic had ruined her plans to begin a new life away from the Royal Family.
She felt pandemic ruined her plans to be closer to her mother now she is no longer a working royal.
The US Government has been urging the public to adopt social distancing measures to slow down the spread of the virus.
Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, lives just outside Los Angeles and she is believed to be one of the key reasons why the Duke and Duchess decided to settle down in California to work on their non-profit organisation.
