Then came a tradition-busting stay with the Royals at Sandringham over the festive season, the first time a fiancee has ever been asked.
Now, in a further sign of Meghan’s increasingly warm welcome to the fold, comes news that she is said to have enjoyed an “intimate” lunch with the Queen on Mother’s Day.
The 91-year-old monarch has been making a point of setting aside time to spend with Meghan, 36, who is due to wed Prince Harry on May 19.
Last Sunday’s meal together was said to have come a day before Meghan made her first public appearance with the Queen at the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey.
Buckingham and Kensington Palaces declined to discuss the lunch, which was reported by America’s ABC News, but it is understood the Queen was at Windsor on Sunday.
Over the weekend she hosted a traditional cocktail party following the Grand Military Gold Cup horse race.
Harry, 33, and LA-born Meghan have often spent weekends at Windsor and it is a special place for them.
