Meet Mrs Adeyinka Adekoya, WAPIC Insurance Plc Nigeria new MD/CEO has authoritatively confirmed that Mrs Adeyinka Adekoya is the new Managing Director/CEO of the 57 year-old insurance operator, WAPIC Insurance Plc. She would soon be officially unveiled after clearance from the Regulators- SEC & NAICOM.

Mrs. Adekoya, who until recently was the General Manager and Group Head, Institutional Business Division, Cornerstone Insurance Plc resumes as the New Managing Director/CEO of WAPIC Insurance Plc taking over the position vacated by Ashish Desai.

Mrs Adekoya is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Insurance and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Lagos. A versatile insurance practitioner with experience and competence in various segments of insurance- Reinsurance, Claims, Underwriting/Risk Management and Marketing. She is also a tested and trusted administrator and manager of men and resources. She joined Cornerstone Insurance Plc in September 2009 as Head of Risk Management and General Manager.


Mrs Adekoya has over twenty-five years experience in the insurance industry having started her insurance career in 1985 as a Senior Superintendent at Lambert Willis & Associate[Insurance Brokers (where rose to the position of DGM, Operations. She worked with Cornerstone Insurance from 2009- 2015. She is an active member of PILA (Professional Insurance Ladies Association); Chartered Insurance Institute London, Chartered Insurance Institute, Nigeria and Ikoyi Club 1938. She is happily married with children.

Wapic Insurance Plc is one of Nigeria’s oldest insurance companies (incorporated in 1958 as a subsidiary of Provincial Insurance Company, United Kingdom). It was later acquired by Intercontinental Bank Plc and became subsidiary of Access Bank in 2011 following the acquisition of its parent company by Access Bank. It has a Bancassurance relationship with Access Bank and is assigned the financial strength rating of B-(Fair) and the issuer credit rating of “bb-” A.M. Best.

Wapic operates two wholly owned subsidiaries – Wapic Life Assurance Limited and Wapic Insurance (Ghana) Limited.
